Welcome to the “Decent Work for Persons with Disabilities” photograph competition organized by the International Labour Organization, Disabled Peoples’ International and Irish Aid. Please review the following Rules, Terms and Conditions of use concerning your participation in this competition.
- 1.By entering the “Decent Work for Persons with Disabilities” photograph competition you accept the Terms and Conditions below.
- 2.This competition is open to anyone aged over 18 years old and resident in any Asia-Pacific country.
- 3.No admission fee is required to participate.
- 4.The photographer must be the sole author of the entries and hold full rights to them.
- 5.The photographer must have received permission from the subject(s) for the image to be used in the competition.
- 6.To enter the competition, all entrants must use the official entry form and must submit their pictures via the competition web site at www.jigsaw-communications.com/ILO, or by mail on CD to: International Labour Organization Photo Competition, Jigsaw Communications, 32 Sukhumvit Soi 19, Wattana, Bangkok 10110, Thailand.
- 7.No more than THREE photographs may be submitted by any one person.
- 8.Pictures that have won awards in other photographic competitions, or similar shots from the same sequence, are disqualified from entry. Images previously published in magazines, or similar shots from the same sequence, are ineligible.
- 9.The closing date for entries to the competition is 12:00 noon 21st November 2007, Thailand.
- 10.CRITERIA FOR ENTRY
- 10.1Please follow instructions on the website for submitting files.
- 10.2Please include descriptive information about your shot, for example where specified.

- Caption: (Maximum 100 words in English explaining the links with decent work and the disability issues the picture portrays)
- 10.3Entries will only be accepted in digital format (colour or black and white) that must not have been digitally enhanced or manipulated in any way. Any that are deemed by the judges to have been adjusted will be disqualified. Photographs must have been taken within the two years prior to the closing date. Image files should be uploaded to the site as jpegs with a file size of between 1 and 5 Megabytes or by mail on CD to: International Labour Organization Photo Competition, Jigsaw Communications, 32 Sukhumvit Soi 19, Wattana, Bangkok 10110, Thailand.
- 10.4No responsibility can be taken by the organisers for images that are incorrectly submitted.
- 10.5Entrants are responsible for the appearance of all images and the judges will make their decisions based on what they see on screen.
- 10.6The organizers reserves the right to remove uploaded images which they, in their absolute discretion, consider may cause offence or may be unsuitable or inappropriate for this competition, for example (but not exclusively) because of their violent, criminal, religious, political, racial, sexual or exploitative content.
- 11.JUDGING
- 11.1A panel of judges, chaired by a leading international photographer, will judge all images. The judges will be looking at:
- - Photo composition/lighting/relevance to decent work
- - Impact
- - Caption
- 11.2The decision of the organisers and judges on all matters relating to the competition is final, and no correspondence will be entered into at any stage.
- 11.3The judging panel will select the top 40 photographs for exhibition.
- 11.1A panel of judges, chaired by a leading international photographer, will judge all images. The judges will be looking at:
- 12.COPYRIGHT
- 12.1By entering the competition you agree to grant the ILO and sponsors full copyright for any photograph entered in the competition. The ILO and sponsors reserve the right to use the photographs in publications such as magazines, reports, calendars, postcards, etc.
- 12.2The ILO will also place the photographs in the ILO’s online Photo Gallery Library and make them available to any responsible party wishing to use the photographs.
- 12.3When photographs are used credit will be given to the photographer.
- 13.EXHIBITION
- 13.1After judging, all entrants whose work is selected for exhibition will be notified.
- 14.AWARDS CEREMONY
- 14.1The awards will be announced at a press conference on the 29th November 2007 and at an Awards Ceremony in Bangkok.
- 14.2By entering the competition you agree that if you are selected as the winner you will be available to travel to Bangkok for the Awards Ceremony on the 29th November at the ILO’s expense.
- 15.Finalists agree to take part in post-competition publicity.

- 1 First Prize US$1,000
- 1 Second Prize US$500
- 1 Third Prize US$250
- 16.2National Prizes. Some countries will be holding a national level competition and awarding prizes to national winners. The value of national prizes can be obtained from local International Labour Organization Offices.
- 16.1Asia Pacific Competition Prizes
- 17.The winners are responsible for paying any and all taxes due on prize money awarded.
- 18.The International Labour Organization accepts no liability for incorrect information supplied in the submission form. Any person(s) found to have provided false information will be excluded from the competition and should any of the winners be found to have provided false information the prize will be forfeit and all prize money returned to the ILO.
